好用需慎用 压缩空气冷却器使用有讲究
The compressed air cooler, originally a device more commonly used in rear-engine buses, has recently started being installed on many trucks as well. This device can lower the intake air temperature of the dryer, allowing the dryer to work efficiently and thus providing the entire brake air circuit with dry compressed air. It extends the service life of various pump valves and helps prevent ice formation in winter that could affect driving safety. However, improper installation of the cooler and poor pipeline design also pose certain risks.
● What exactly is an air-cooled compressed air cooler?
The compressed air cooler is a device used to lower the temperature of high-temperature compressed air from the air compressor. Its function is the same as that of a spiral tube, both serving to reduce temperature. The advantages of the cooler are that it provides good cooling and offers flexible positioning. It prevents the efficiency of the dryer from decreasing due to high inlet air temperature, avoids condensation of moisture in the incoming air which can damage pump valves, and prevents freezing in winter that could lead to brake failure, seriously affecting driving safety.
● Coolers are very useful, but careful consideration is needed when selecting and installing them.
Although a cooler is a useful device, it is not absolutely foolproof. Usually, coolers are installed in the pipeline between the air pump and the dryer. If this section of the pipeline is too short, when the vehicle's air consumption is relatively high, it can overload the cooler, preventing it from achieving the desired effect and thus causing the dryer to not function fully. In low-temperature regions, this can potentially lead to icing in the pipeline, affecting air flow and compromising safety.
During winter, any water left inside the cooler has a risk of freezing. This phenomenon is more noticeable in the humid southwestern regions and often occurs in mountainous areas during winter, where there are rapid temperature changes with varying altitudes. If the cooler becomes blocked with ice and the pipeline cannot pass air, our air supply will be rendered useless, leading to consequences that are clear to everyone.
Nowadays, many vehicle models come equipped with a cooler, but users should pay close attention during use. If any risks are detected, the service station should be contacted immediately to find a solution.
● Editor's Note
We must make good use of beneficial devices and anticipate potential risks. The use of a cooler actually places higher demands on the layout of pipelines. We hope manufacturers prioritize not only convenience for themselves but also consider extreme conditions, so that this efficient device can better serve users and reduce unnecessary troubles.
